About the Primary 1 registration data

Where the numbers come from and what each one means.

Source

The Ministry of Education (MOE) publishes, for each primary school, how many places were listed in each phase of the Primary 1 registration, how many children applied, and whether there was a ballot. This site shows MOE's Primary 1 registration results for 2022 to 2025 for 179 schools. The home page, the map and the nearby-schools list use the newest year, 2025; each school page also has a "Year by year" section with the earlier years. A school appears only for the years it had results. The newest year updates each January, when MOE releases it.

School names, addresses and postal codes come from MOE's General Information of Schools list on data.gov.sg. Positions on the map come from OneMap.

What each number means

The labels, in words

LabelWhat it means
Ballot within 1 kmPlaces ran out and even children living within 1 km of the school went to a ballot.
Ballot from 1 kmChildren within 1 km all got in. Those living between 1 and 2 km went to a ballot.
Ballot beyond 2 kmChildren within 2 km all got in. Those further away went to a ballot.
BallotThere was a ballot, but MOE's note did not say which children it covered.
Only within 1 km got inMore children applied than there were places. There was no ballot: MOE offered places only to citizens living within 1 km.
Only within 2 km got inMore children applied than there were places. There was no ballot: MOE offered places only to citizens living within 2 km.
All citizens got inEvery citizen who applied got in. Used when MOE offered places to all citizens (with or without nearby Permanent Resident children), or when a ballot was only for Permanent Resident children.
Places ran outMore children applied than there were places, and MOE's note did not say who was offered a place.
Filled up, all got inThe number of applicants matched the number of places exactly, so everyone got in and the places ran out.
Places left overEveryone who applied got in, and some places were left over.
No places this phaseNo places were listed for this phase.

Last year, by where children lived

Each phase on a school page has a short list headed "Last year, by where children lived". It splits the children who applied into groups by how far they lived from the school, and says what happened to each group.

MOE publishes one head-count for the ballot group and one for everyone who applied. It does not split the children beyond the ballot group by distance, so those children are combined into one "Everyone else" row. MOE places every Singapore Citizen before any Permanent Resident child, so "Everyone else" includes PR children living nearby. Where MOE gave no ballot head-counts (all of 2022 and 2023), the ballot row says "odds not published" and the other rows show no counts. When MOE's note does not say who was offered a place, we show a short line instead of rows.

These are last year's results, not a prediction of what will happen to your child.

Why there are no distances

MOE decides which children are within 1 km or 2 km of a school with its own home-school distance. It is the shortest distance from any point on the school's boundary to the outline of the home's building, taken from the building plan that the Singapore Land Authority updates every June. A straight line from the school's address to a home does not measure that, and it reads too far for any school with large grounds. We tested this: a home that the official figure puts inside 1 km came out just over 1 km on a straight line.

OneMap does not offer this lookup to other websites, and rebuilding it ourselves would still not be the official answer. So we do not print distances. To check a home, use OneMap School Query (the official home-school distance MOE uses) or MOE School Finder.

Homes near each school

School pages count the HDB blocks and condos near the school's address, using the data on our HDB and property sites. It is for getting a feel for the area. It is not a statement about Primary 1 eligibility.
